Arc - Spiritile #216 - RETIRED
Quote "You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step." - Martin Luther King Jr.
Artist Statement
Sometimes we find ourselves staring at a foreboding staircase - arms loaded with baggage - wondering how will we get to the other end? A bit of advice from an old sage … first, lay down the bags you don’t need right now. You can retrieve them later, if you do. Second, free up a hand to grab the rail in an unsteady moment. And third - just GO! According to the author Aberjhani, the first step is always the hardest. But after that you will find your pace and before you know it, you make it to the other end. The main thing is, don’t just stand there and stare at those stairs that beckon you. Travel light and take that first step!
Quote begins on left side and finishes on right- author noted on top. Each Spiritile is made from copper, glass and wood. They can hang on a wall or stand alone, and will never fade or tarnish.

Houston Llew is an enameling artist of his own distinctive genre specializing in glass on copper artworks known as Spiritiles. In his kiln-hot Atlanta studio, each tile is made by hand using ground glass that is painted, then kiln-fired to copper and enveloped around a solid frame. Every Spiritile has its own story wrapped around the sides to match the iconic and inspiring moments drawn from life. These pieces are best enjoyed together in a collection that reflects your unique style and story. They are made to be gifted, collected, and treasured for years to come. Welcome to the family!
